Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong revealed that he has received numerous documents from across the country detailing alleged anomalies in government projects, which he plans to hand over once a formal investigative body is established.
He said many irregularities involve projects like rock netting, asphalt overlay, solar lights, and flood control structures in Baguio and Benguet, including a documented substandard flood control project in Camp 3.
Magalong criticized the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for a lack of transparency and poor coordination with local governments, noting that some projects were carried out without consultation or proper explanation.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., after inspecting these projects, was reportedly angered and issued a new policy requiring national government projects to be coordinated with local government units for transparency.
Magalong expressed confidence in the President’s determination to address corruption and ensure meaningful improvements before the end of his term.
