Alex Eala is preparing for the 2025 Australian Open with an exhibition stint at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, competing in the captains’ challenge, mixed doubles, and women’s singles this weekend.
The 20-year-old Filipina, ranked WTA No. 53, teams up with Jack Draper and Jerry Shang for Team Lina against a squad led by Spanish legend Conchita Martinez, featuring top-ranked players like Mirra Andreeva and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Eala will also face Andreeva in women’s singles, revisiting their first encounter in three years after Eala defeated her 6-4, 6-0 at the 2022 US Open juniors.
The Macau Masters concludes a stellar season for Eala, highlighted by her first WTA Tour title, Top 50 ranking, and qualification for all Grand Slam events.
She recently capped off her year with a historic SEA Games performance, winning one gold medal in women’s singles and two bronze medals in team and mixed doubles events.
