Tomorrow.io, a US-based weather intelligence company, has partnered with the Philippines’ National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and Department of Agriculture (DA) to bring AI-powered weather forecasting to Filipino farmers.
The initiative uses a network of low-orbit satellites and AI-driven models to provide hyper-local forecasts and timely agronomy advice, helping farmers better plan irrigation, pesticide use, and other farming activities.
With traditional ground-based forecasting limited in the country’s remote and geographically complex areas, Tomorrow.io’s satellite technology aims to fill critical data gaps.
In 2024, extreme weather caused over ₱57.78 billion in agricultural damage, affecting more than 1.4 million farmers and highlighting the urgent need for climate-resilient solutions.
By offering real-time, location-specific weather intelligence, the program seeks to boost productivity, reduce losses, and strengthen the resilience of the agriculture sector.
