The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has reassigned Col. Raymund Dante Lachica, former head of the AFP Security and Protection Group, amid a case involving alleged misuse of confidential funds linked to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Lachica was transferred back to the Philippine Army on October 4 and replaced by Lt. Col. Joseph Israel Eleosida.
The reassignment follows an ongoing investigation involving Lachica and another officer, Col. Dennis Nolasco, who reportedly received millions in confidential funds.
Vice President Sara Duterte has denied any wrongdoing, calling the inquiry politically motivated.
The OVP expressed gratitude for Lachica’s service but said it was only informed of his reassignment two days later without any explanation.
