The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief, Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., announced that this year’s “Balikatan” exercises will include a “full battle test” to evaluate military doctrines and procedures.
The exercise, scheduled from late April to mid-May, marks the 40th iteration of Balikatan and will take place largely within the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) operational area.
Brawner emphasized that the drills would test various plans and procedures developed in recent years, including cyber and information warfare tactics.
While he didn’t disclose specific details for security reasons, Brawner highlighted Nolcom’s role as a critical defense unit against external threats.
He commended Nolcom for its significant progress in territorial defense capabilities.
