The AFP and Philippine Air Force clarified that former lawmaker Michael “Mikee” Romero’s departure from the Reserve Force is still subject to institutional procedures.
Romero was relieved as Wing Commander of the Tactical Operations Wing Reserve Northern Luzon before submitting his request to relinquish his duties and retire effective Aug. 19.
The AFP said his request does not yet constitute an approved resignation, and he remains a reservist pending proper approval.
The clarification came amid scrutiny over his military records and the medals displayed on his uniform in a viral photo.
The AFP said it is also reviewing policies on the recruitment, promotion, and conferment of awards for reservists.
