Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. honored outstanding soldiers of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) during a farewell visit to Camp Servillano Aquino in Tarlac City ahead of his retirement on July 21.
Welcomed by NOLCOM chief Lieutenant General Aristotle Gonzales, Brawner thanked troops for their service and recognized officers and enlisted personnel for their dedication and professionalism.
His retirement comes as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. prepares to appoint the country’s next AFP chief of staff.
Among the officers being considered as possible successors are AFP acting vice chief Lieutenant General Rommel Roldan, Philippine Army chief Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete, Philippine Air Force chief Lieutenant General Arthur Cordura, and Navy Flag Officer-in-Command Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta.
The next AFP chief is expected to continue the military’s modernization efforts and strengthen the country’s external defense and maritime security strategies.
