Actress Bela Padilla took to social media to question being charged double the tax on an online purchase valued at P11,000.
She posted on X (formerly Twitter) that she was charged P4,600 in taxes, while the Bureau of Customs’ online calculator indicated it should be only P1,650.
Bela, who frequently shops online for high-value items, expressed that paying nearly half the item’s value in taxes seemed unreasonable.
She clarified that the items were shampoo and skincare products and emphasized she is willing to pay the correct tax but not the inflated amount.
The Bureau of Customs has since reached out to Bela and is working to resolve the issue privately and fairly.
