Three security personnel from the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) were relieved from their posts at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after being implicated in a possible “tanim-bala” or bullet-planting scheme.
Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon expressed disappointment over a viral video showing OTS personnel confronting a woman at the boarding gate after allegedly finding a bullet casing in her bag.
A probe is underway, and Dizon emphasized that officers are prohibited from targeting passengers who have already been cleared for boarding.
President Marcos has ordered an investigation into the incident amid concerns that the extortion scheme has resurfaced, prompting calls for stronger measures to prevent similar occurrences.
In response, Dizon plans to establish a hotline for passengers to report complaints directly to his office.
