The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will invite former congressman Elizaldy Co to testify in its flood control corruption probe following his arrest in the Czech Republic, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson.
Lacson said the panel will also summon other key witnesses, including former Marine Orly Guteza and 18 ex-soldiers, to verify conflicting claims about alleged cash deliveries linked to the scam.
He added that the committee aims to determine which testimonies are truthful as it examines allegations involving billions of pesos in kickbacks and fund irregularities.
Co’s possible appearance will depend on the approval of a partial Senate report, which still needs additional signatures before it can be formally sponsored in the plenary.
Meanwhile, Philippine authorities are coordinating with Czech officials for Co’s deportation, with his return expected within one to three weeks, according to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
