Vice President Sara Duterte has filed a 17-page counter-affidavit with the Office of the Ombudsman in response to a House complaint alleging misuse of confidential funds during her simultaneous service at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
The complaint concerns the alleged misuse of P500 million from the OVP and P112.5 million from DepEd confidential funds.
Duterte and nine other officials from both offices were given 10 days to respond by the Ombudsman following multiple House hearings on the issue.
Duterte denied that the Ombudsman’s actions were politically motivated and affirmed her readiness to face any charges in court or impeachment proceedings.
Meanwhile, Ombudsman Samuel Martires clarified that the office will coordinate with ongoing impeachment processes even as the preliminary investigation continues.
