VP SARA: BASTE TO SERVE AS DAVAO CITY ACTING MAYOR IF DAD CAN’T TAKE OATH IN THE HAGUE

Davao City Mayor-elect Rodrigo Duterte must take his oath by noon on June 30, or his son, Vice Mayor-elect Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, will assume the role of acting mayor, Vice President Sara Duterte said.

She revealed she has not discussed the oath-taking plans with her father, who is currently detained at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Under local government rules, the vice mayor automatically becomes acting mayor if the mayor-elect fails to take the oath.

Sara Duterte expressed hope that her father would still be able to take his oath and thanked Davao residents for supporting the Duterte family’s political victories.

She also urged elected officials to remain faithful to their duties and uphold the law.
