Vice President Sara Duterte skipped the PDP-Laban proclamation rally amid a looming impeachment trial and a family vacation abroad.
In a message read at the event, she endorsed the party’s senatorial candidates, including Senators Ronald Dela Rosa and Bong Go, and urged Filipinos to vote for them.
Duterte faces impeachment over allegations of misuse of public funds, betrayal of public trust, and a violation of the Constitution, which was confirmed by the House of Representatives on February 5.
Meanwhile, the PDP-Laban party emphasized its unity and the “Tapang at Malasakit” brand of governance, promising to continue the Duterte administration’s fight against illegal drugs and corruption.
The rally, which was to be led by former President Duterte, faced delays as he was notably absent, causing speculation of her whereabouts.
