Global payments leader Visa is accelerating the adoption of mobile payment services like Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay in the Philippines by partnering with banks and tech companies.
During a recent workshop, Visa collaborated with regional partners to share best practices on expanding these digital wallets, or “xPays,” in the local market.
Visa Philippines country manager Jeffrey Navarro emphasized that their tokenization technology enhances security and user experience, supporting the country’s shift to cashless transactions and financial inclusion goals.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas clarified that mobile wallet providers act as technology service providers linked to users’ bank accounts, not holding funds themselves.
With digital payments already comprising over 57% of transaction volume in the Philippines, Visa aims to further broaden financial access for both Filipinos and foreign travelers.
