US EMBASSY IN MANILA SUSPENDS OPERATIONS FOR CARTER TRIBUTE

The United States embassy in Manila and all US embassies worldwide will be closed on January 9 to observe a national day of mourning for former US President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at 100.

President Joe Biden issued an executive order to honor Carter’s legacy as a humanitarian, peace advocate, and Nobel laureate.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also paid tribute, recognizing Carter’s dedication to human rights and global peace.

Regular embassy operations will resume on January 10.
