The United Nations has highlighted Asia as the world’s most disaster-prone region due to climate and weather events in 2023.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, floods and storms caused significant casualties and economic losses across the continent.
Rising global temperatures, exacerbated by climate change, have accelerated the warming of Asia, with temperatures soaring nearly two degrees Celsius above historical averages.
Melting glaciers are also posing threats to the region’s water security.
The report underscores the urgent need for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the changing climate to safeguard lives and the environment.
