Dakila “Dax” Cua, president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), has urged local chief executives (LCEs) to support the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in conducting the “2024 Population Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS)” from July 15 to September 2024.
Cua emphasized the importance of this nationwide effort and called on LGUs to ensure its effective implementation in their communities.
President’s Proclamation 627 designates July 2024 as “National Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Month,” mandating government agencies to assist the PSA in this initiative.
Cua highlighted that EO 352 and RA 11315 require regular census and CBMS data collection to inform socio-economic policies, stressing the need for accurate data synthesis to guide poverty alleviation and social protection strategies.
He also reassured Filipinos of the legitimacy of the census process and urged cooperation with PSA enumerators, emphasizing their official identification and uniform to prevent any misuse of confidential information.
