Adamson Lady Falcons’ rookie Shaina Nitura set a new UAAP women’s volleyball scoring record with 38 points, despite her team’s five-set loss to the UP Fighting Maroons in Season 87 action.
Her record-breaking feat, built on 35 attacks and three aces, earned praise from volleyball stars, including former UAAP record-holder Alyssa Valdez.
Valdez, who previously set the 35-point record in 2013, encouraged Nitura to stay passionate and resilient, predicting she will break more records in the future.
Notably, history shows that most record-breaking performances in UAAP volleyball, including those by Valdez and Sisi Rondina, came in losing efforts.
Valdez hopes Nitura and the Adamson Lady Falcons will use this experience to grow stronger for the rest of the season.
