The Alliance of Concerned Truck Owners and Organizations (ACTOO) opposed the weeklong no-work protest at the Port of Manila, warning that halting operations could disrupt cargo movement and hurt the economy.
ACTOO Vice President Rina Papa said the group supports finding concrete solutions to port congestion, delays in returning empty containers, and rising logistics costs but believes a work stoppage is not the answer.
CitizenWatch and Konsyumer at Mamamayan also opposed the protest, warning it could delay essential goods such as food, medicine, and fuel and increase costs for consumers.
Both groups urged the government, shipping lines, port operators, container depots, and trucking firms to work together on reforms with clear deadlines and accountability.
They stressed that port operations should continue while stakeholders negotiate solutions to prevent further supply chain disruptions and price increases.
