At least eight people have died due to tropical cyclone Basyang, the Office of Civil Defense reported.
Four fatalities occurred in Cagayan de Oro City from a landslide, three in Iligan City from flooding, and one in Agusan del Norte from drowning.
Iligan City, under a state of calamity, experienced severe floods that swept away vehicles and caused a steel bridge to collapse, affecting around 3,800 families.
Over 2,000 people were evacuated in Cagayan de Oro, while thousands of passengers were stranded as sea travel was suspended.
Basyang made five landfalls before weakening into a low-pressure area over the Sulu Sea by Saturday.
