Iligan City Hall was illuminated in pink starting October 8 to promote breast cancer awareness, early detection, and mental health care for women.
The initiative brought together the local government and community groups to encourage women to undergo regular medical checkups and prioritize their overall health.
The campaign coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, as breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women worldwide.
The World Health Organization reported that 2.4 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer globally in 2024, while around 694,000 died from the disease.
Meanwhile, Manticao Municipal Health Officer Eddy Paul Mallillin urged women government employees to perform regular breast self-examinations or undergo ultrasound screening and consult a doctor immediately if they discover a breast lump.
