Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV submitted a supplemental affidavit to the DOJ to strengthen drug smuggling charges against Davao Rep. Paolo Duterte, ex-Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon, and lawyer Mans Carpio. The new evidence includes testimonies from the House quad committee hearings, where witness Mark Taguba claimed he paid for protection linked to Duterte. The affidavit references the Manila RTC’s November 2024 conviction of Taguba and others for smuggling 605 kilos of shabu worth PHP6.4 billion, which bypassed Customs inspections. Trillanes asserts the evidence directly ties Duterte to the shipment.
