Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV has filed a drug smuggling case against Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, son of former president Rodrigo Duterte, and Manases Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The case relates to a 2017 shipment of 602 kilos of crystal methamphetamine (shabu) worth over P6 billion. Duterte, expressing confidence in his innocence, believes the judicial process will clear his name.

The lawsuit also names Charlie Tan, Nicanor Faeldon, Allen Capuyao, Neil Estrella, Nilo Abellera Jr., and “Tita Nanie” Cabatu-Coronacion.

The accused are charged with violating Section 4 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
