The Manila Times recognized exemplary cities and municipalities at the Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities 2024 Awards on Thursday.
Bacnotan in La Union and Baguio City were named the top local government units (LGUs) for their commitment to sustainable development and economic growth.
Bacnotan received accolades for its achievements in Technology Territory, Safe Haven, Food Security Enabler, and Sustainability Champion categories.
Baguio City was awarded the Top Model City title, excelling in areas such as Education Hub, Livelihood and Employment, and Social Service Oriented, while also finishing as first runner-up in Sustainability Champion.
The awards celebrated urban progress and local government efforts to reduce poverty, enhance productivity, and improve governance strategies.
