TNT Tropang Giga secured a PBA Philippine Cup Finals berth after eliminating Rain or Shine in six games, earning a crucial rest ahead of their Grand Slam bid against either Ginebra or San Miguel.
Despite battling injuries, including sidelined stars RR Pogoy and Kelly Williams, TNT leaned on gritty performances from Calvin Oftana, Jordan Heading, and their bench to clinch a 97-89 win in Game 6.
Heading led with 29 points despite back issues, while Oftana and others pushed through pain to secure the victory.
Coach Chot Reyes hopes the break before the July 13 Finals opener will allow injured players to recover, especially Pogoy, who has resumed shooting drills but remains noncommittal about his return.
Ginebra and San Miguel face off in a do-or-die Game 7 to determine who meets TNT in the title showdown.
