The third impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte has been transmitted to the office of House Speaker Faustino Dy III, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil said Tuesday.
The complaint was filed by a group of private citizens, including clergy, civil society leaders, and lawyers, and was endorsed by Deputy Minority Leader Leila de Lima of the Mamamayang Liberal party-list.
Garafil stressed that his office’s role in the impeachment process is strictly ministerial, limited to the receipt, verification, and transmission of complaints.
The complainants are seeking accountability over Duterte’s alleged misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds.
Duterte said her lawyers are preparing legal action against her alleged bagman and former security aide Ramil Madriaga, who has claimed he delivered campaign funds and is set to testify in the impeachment case.
