A third impeachment complaint has been filed against Vice President Sara Duterte by religious groups and lawyers over the alleged misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds.
The complaint, endorsed by Reps. Leila de Lima and Perci Cendaña cite alleged betrayal of public trust, graft, and corruption, and drawn documents and witness accounts, including the affidavit of Duterte’s alleged former bagman, Ramil Madriaga.
The petition alleges Duterte directed how the funds were spent during her term as Education Secretary and during the 2022 vice presidential campaign.
Duterte’s legal team is prepared to counter the allegations, while her spokesman said they anticipated the filing and will address it through constitutional processes.
Malacañang affirmed that the rule of law and accountability should guide the handling of the complaint.
