The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has placed Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte under its control and appointed Commissioner Noli Pipo to oversee the area with broad authority to ensure peaceful elections.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia emphasized that Pipo’s powers are nearly unlimited to maintain order, warning against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process.
The Comelec also ordered the deployment of security personnel from the PNP, AFP, and Philippine Coast Guard to safeguard all voting centers.
Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac affirmed the readiness of police and task force units to support election operations.
The move comes amid efforts to strengthen public safety and electoral integrity in the Bangsamoro region.
