Talisay City in Negros Occidental has confirmed its first case of monkeypox (mpox), involving a 20-year-old female patient who is now in stable condition and under home isolation.
Mayor Neil Lizares assured residents that health protocols, including contact tracing and containment measures, were immediately implemented to prevent further transmission.
Provincial health officer Dr. Girlie Pinongan confirmed that the patient, who had recently traveled domestically, has already recovered but will remain under observation for 20 days.
Authorities emphasized that mpox spreads through close contact and is manageable with proper hygiene and early medical consultation.
The city urged the public to remain calm, practice personal hygiene, and stay informed as neighboring Bacolod City also recently reported a confirmed case.
