STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN QUEZON CITY DUE TO SEVERE FLOODING

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has severely impacted Metro Manila, prompting the Quezon City government to declare a state of calamity due to heavy rainfall and flooding that has led to the evacuation of thousands of families.

In Marikina, over 2,000 households have been displaced and relocated to evacuation centers, while Malabon and Valenzuela are managing disaster responses amid ongoing flooding.

The Quezon City Council held a special session to access calamity funds for storm response and to lift an earlier state of calamity from Typhoon Carina.

Mayor Joy Belmonte has been actively visiting evacuation centers to distribute relief supplies and assess the situation.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration issued a red rainfall warning for the region, indicating serious flooding risks and strong winds.
