SSS ALLOCATES ₱40B FOR SOLAR FINANCING FOR HOUSEHOLDS

The Social Security System (SSS) is setting aside ₱40 billion for a planned solar panel loan program that could benefit around 100,000 households.

SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph De Claro said the initiative aims to expand members’ access to renewable energy through affordable financing.

The program may offer loans of up to ₱300,000 to ₱400,000 payable over four to seven years, with interest rates based on legal requirements.

SSS is finalizing the guidelines and expects to announce the program soon, with implementation targeted by late 2026 or early 2027.

The initiative is part of SSS efforts to modernize member benefits and attract more younger contributors.
