The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will deploy 20,229 personnel to secure President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said 9,700 personnel will be assigned to civil disturbance management and maintain peace and order during possible protests.
Police will secure key areas, including the Batasang Pambansa complex, Malacañang, the Senate, the US Embassy, the People Power Monument, and the EDSA Shrine.
Aberin said the deployment may still be adjusted depending on the situation before the event.
He added that authorities have not monitored any serious security threats to the SONA.
