The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to hold a hearing regarding a disqualification case filed against five candidates from the Tulfo family.
The case, filed by lawyer Virgilio Garcia, involves senatorial candidates Erwin and Ben Tulfo, party-list nominees Jocelyn Pua-Tulfo (ACT-CIS) and Wanda Tulfo-Teo (Turismo), and Quezon City Rep. Ralph Tulfo.
The complaint centers around the issue of political dynasties, which are prohibited under the 1987 Constitution, although no specific law currently defines them.
Erwin Tulfo argued that there is no law banning political dynasties and stated that he has not received a subpoena from the Comelec yet.
Despite this, former Senator Panfilo Lacson plans to re-file a bill to enforce the anti-political dynasty provision in the Constitution.
