SENATE REMOVES DOUBLE PLATE, RFID REQUIREMENTS IN REVISED LAW

The Senate has ratified the bicameral conference committee report on amendments to the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act, also known as the Doble Plaka Law.

Sen. JV Ejercito, the bill’s principal author, highlighted key changes, including the removal of the double plate requirement and RFID sticker provisions.

The amendments also lower penalties and fines to more reasonable levels while maintaining public safety objectives.

Ejercito defended the revisions, emphasizing the need to correct discriminatory provisions in the original law.

He expressed confidence that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would sign the measure swiftly.
