The Senate Finance Panel has recommended the removal of the controversial Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) from the 2025 national budget.
This recommendation was made under the Committee Report for House Bill No. 10800, which outlines the 2025 General Appropriations Bill.
The funding for AKAP was deleted from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) budget, with other programs such as the Sustainable Livelihood Program and Quick Response Fund proposed as replacements.
AKAP became controversial after being linked to a signature campaign for Charter change.
Sen. Imee Marcos raised concerns over its use in the “fake” people’s initiative.
