The Senate will investigate claims by former congressman Zaldy Co that P100 billion worth of projects were inserted into the 2025 national budget.
Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, vice chairman of the finance committee last year, said he is gathering documents to examine the alleged insertions but has not drawn any conclusions.
In a video statement, Co accused President Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez of orchestrating the P100-billion budget additions and insisted he did not benefit from the scheme.
Co, who has gone into hiding after being linked to alleged kickbacks and flood-control insertions, called on the Ombudsman and the Senate to probe the matter.
Gatchalian, however, questioned the credibility of Co’s claims, saying some details do not align with standard budget procedures.
