A joint Senate hearing involving three committees will feature 26 resource persons, including top government officials, to investigate the escape of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and her associates.
Shiela Leal Guo, Alice’s sister, and Cassandra Li Ong, Guo’s business partner, have been turned over to authorities and face charges including obstruction of justice and illegal use of a passport.
The hearings, chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros, will also address the Department of Foreign Affairs’ proposal to cancel Guo’s Philippine passport.
Ong, a key figure in the Philippine offshore gaming industry, is under scrutiny for her alleged connections to illegal POGO operations.
Lawmakers and law enforcement officials are pressing for information that could reveal links between these activities and high-profile figures.
