The Supreme Court denied the motion of former President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa seeking to compel the government to produce an alleged arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
The petition, filed in March, challenges Duterte’s possible arrest and the government’s cooperation with the ICC, and later included urgent motions citing public statements from former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla about an arrest warrant and diffusion order.
Duterte and Dela Rosa argued that Dela Rosa faced a “clear and present danger” of being arrested or surrendered without due process.
The Court, however, rejected their urgent request for the alleged warrant and instead ordered the respondents to comment on the petitioners’ manifestation within 10 days.
The justices also directed agencies to clarify whether any official ICC communications or warrants exist.
