Detained contractor Sarah Discaya is set for arraignment on Jan. 13 before the Regional Trial Court Branch 27 in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu, on charges of graft and malversation linked to P96.5-million “ghost” flood control projects in Davao Occidental.
She was arrested by the NBI on Dec. 18 and flown to Cebu the following day, where she is currently detained.
Discaya, her niece Ma. Roma Rimando and six others are implicated in the alleged fraudulent projects.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto alleged that the Discayas’ camp has been threatening former employees to prevent them from testifying.
Sotto also emphasized the scale of their operations, noting billions of pesos in transactions linked to their companies, and urged the public to stay vigilant as the cases proceed.
