Vice President Sara Duterte called for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to be investigated and jailed over alleged anomalies in flood control projects, citing his role in signing the 2025 budget.
In a Cebu City interview, she also questioned why former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, her cousin, was not included in potential accountability measures.
Duterte pointed to the 2025 General Appropriations Act as evidence, claiming it revealed budget “insertions” controlled by House leaders that diverted funds from programs like school building initiatives.
She criticized the House leadership for “chopping” funds meant for public programs and distributing them to allied lawmakers.
Duterte stressed that the president could hold himself accountable by acknowledging lapses in overseeing the budget and fulfilling his duties.
