RULE-BREAKING TOURISTS IN SIARGAO FACE IMMIGRATION PENALTIES

The Bureau of Immigration warned that foreign nationals in Siargao who violate immigration laws may face penalties, including deportation and blacklisting.

The warning comes after reports of misconduct by some visitors, particularly Israeli nationals, who allegedly disrespected local customs and caused disturbances.

Complaints documented by NGO Project Paradise included noise, dangerous driving, inappropriate dress, and environmental neglect.

Authorities stressed that sanctions target behavior, not nationality, emphasizing respect for local traditions.

The Department of Tourism has communicated the concerns of residents to the Embassy of Israel in Manila.
