House Speaker Martin Romualdez expressed optimism that upcoming high-level visits between the Philippines and Japan will enhance military cooperation and regional stability.
Speaking at Japan’s National Day celebration in Taguig City, he highlighted the importance of strengthening defense ties and advancing bilateral relations.
Romualdez emphasized shared values of democracy, economic progress, and regional security as the foundation for the growing partnership.
The scheduled visits follow recent engagements, including Japan’s Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi’s visit to the Philippines, and the ratification of the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) in December 2024, which enhances military collaboration.
Romualdez also underscored the importance of enhanced defense cooperation with Japan amid regional security challenges, particularly in territorial seas.
