Senator Robin Padilla has called for a Senate investigation into allegations that witnesses are being bribed to give false testimony during hearings.
The move aims to protect the integrity of the legislative process and ensure fairness in public inquiries.
Padilla cited claims that individuals have paid or offered incentives to witnesses to support specific narratives, which could undermine public trust.
The investigation follows a viral video in which former Senate witness Michael Maurilio accused Senator Risa Hontiveros of paying him P1 million to testify against figures like Apollo Quiboloy and the Duterte family, an allegation Hontiveros denies.
Hontiveros has filed cyberlibel complaints against Maurilio and others for spreading false claims, while Padilla stressed the need to hold accountable those involved in unethical practices.
