The Department of Health (DOH) has reported 34 cases of heat-related illnesses across the country this year, with six fatalities recorded.
The affected regions include Central Visayas, Ilocos Region, and Soccsksargen. These cases come amid rising heat indexes, with some areas experiencing dangerous levels ranging from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius.
The DOH advises the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated, seeking shade or cooler areas, limiting outdoor activities during peak hours, and using protective measures like hats, umbrellas, and sunscreen.
The heat index, which measures the temperature that a person feels, takes into account both humidity and air temperature.
