Rising Filipino boxing star Carl Jammes Martin made an impressive United States debut by defeating Mexican Francisco Pedroza Portillo via unanimous decision in an eight-round junior featherweight bout at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
Martin controlled the fight early with effective jabs and footwork, disrupting Portillo’s rhythm.
In the sixth round, Martin knocked Portillo down with a powerful counter right hook, although Portillo managed to continue the fight.
Despite Portillo’s late aggression, Martin maintained composure and secured the win, improving his undefeated record to 26-0 with 20 knockouts.
Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao personally congratulated Martin after the fight during his visit to Las Vegas ahead of his upcoming bout.
