Retired Air Force Gen. Romeo Poquiz was arrested Monday at NAIA Terminal 3 on charges of inciting to sedition, following an arrest warrant issued by Quezon City RTC Branch 77.
The charges, filed by the Department of Justice, stem from allegations that Poquiz urged active military personnel to withdraw support from the government.
Poquiz, a vocal critic of the Marcos administration and founder of the United People’s Initiative, was brought to Camp Karingal for processing before posting bail of P48,000 and being released.
His lawyer, Ferdie Topacio, condemned the arrest as “totally atrocious,” citing restrictions on client access.
The RTC has scheduled Poquiz’s arraignment and pre-trial for January 14.
