Former President Rodrigo Duterte, now detained in The Hague for over 100 days, has reportedly become very thin and frail, according to his former wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman.
In a video interview, Zimmerman said Duterte no longer takes medication, spends most of his time watching TV and sleeping, and walks slowly due to his age.
Duterte inquired about his family and local politics in Davao City, expressing concern for his son Sebastian, the acting mayor, and his political party’s success.
Zimmerman expressed her continued support for Duterte and thanked his supporters, while also acknowledging the challenges in their past relationship.
Meanwhile, Duterte’s legal team is seeking his interim release and transfer to a third country, but the ICC prosecutor opposes the request, citing risks to ongoing investigations related to his crimes against humanity case.
