Marikina City 2nd District Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo has been named acting chairperson of the House appropriations committee following the resignation of Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co due to health concerns.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco cited House rules that allow Quimbo, the committee’s senior vice chairperson, to assume the role temporarily until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Co expressed gratitude for his tenure and highlighted his efforts in steering the national budget and supporting critical initiatives, including health and food security programs.
His resignation, accepted without objection by lawmakers, comes as he prioritizes medical treatment.
Quimbo’s leadership ensures continuity in the committee’s work, particularly during this transitional period.
