The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has officially opened its first hospital-based blood collecting unit at Ospital ng Parañaque.
PRC Chairman Richard Gordon emphasized that the facility will allow patients in need of blood transfusions to access the service directly within the hospital.
He explained that this initiative eliminates the burden on patients to find blood on their own during critical times.
The facility will also provide a convenient location for voluntary blood donors to contribute.
The project was a collaboration between the PRC Rizal chapter, Parañaque City officials, and Ospital ng Parañaque, and will benefit over 850,000 residents, particularly in emergencies and surgeries.
