PAGASA has confirmed the onset of the southwest monsoon or habagat season, bringing occasional to frequent rains and thunderstorms across parts of the country.
The monsoon brings warm and moist winds and signals the start of the rainy season, although PAGASA said rain breaks may still occur during the period.
Authorities urged the public to take precautionary measures against possible flooding and other weather-related hazards.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health placed its operations under Code White Alert to ensure readiness of medicines, equipment, and emergency response teams amid weather disturbances.
The alert comes as Severe Tropical Storm Domeng may intensify into a typhoon, according to PAGASA.
